First holster question

I am working on my first holster and have a question. I have it completed except for finishing, and was wondering about the final weather proofing. Can I just rub it down with mink oil over the dye I have already applied? I don't care for a shiney finish. Thanks.

Pecards, Aussie, or Montana Pitchblend will give a good weatherproof finish that will still breathe.

Don't use mink oil, snow seal, or neatsfoot oil on holsters. The oils will soften the leather and the holster won't hold it's shape and become useless. I use Satin Shene on the holsters when I want a subdued shine. I'm sure the other holster makers here have their favorite finishes also.

I agree. I use Resolene on mine with it cut 50/50 because out of the bottle it is a little thick. Mine are dunked for about 5 to 10 seconds to fill up the pores. Satin Shene works very well and provides a nice finish.
