King's X Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Does anyone have an easy way to chart, start and get going an Arrowhead Basketweave design. I tried it, thought I had it and then screwed up a few practice pieces. Appreciate the help.
Frank Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I believe someone here did a photo tutorial on that particular subject. If I can find it, I'll post it for you, but otherwise keep searching.

rdb Report post Posted April 20, 2009 That series doesn't show how to actually do the arrowhead bw. I was making some "quicky" bootstraps this morning, and took some pictures. These will help you until I put together a full blown tutorial. Everything depends on lines. First a border/edge line. Then a line just inside that one. Then a center line. You can draw them lightly, or bevel them...all your choices. 1st stamp - Put right front heel on center line. Left rear on inside line. 2cnd -put right lower heel in previous stamp. Front right heel on center line....repeat and rinse..lol 3rd - coming back on other side repeat. match points at center line.
King's X Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Okay, thanks, but I have suds in my hair, so I need to ask this question faster. LOL I get mixed up in the initial angle or does this not matter? But wait, it has to matter or you will end up with a bent arrow, right? How do you know what distance to place the rear feet at? I got everything up to the point, but lost after that. I appreciate all of the help.
rdb Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Once more, with feeling...lol LINE1 - edge line Line 2 - left heel of tool. and guideline for camo tool Line 3 - Center line, right top leg hits center line If the angle is too great, the arrow formed is fat and squat. Too skinny, and the arrow looks like a nail. It really is just a matter of some practice scraps to see what angle you want. Draw lines accordingly. bruce johnson Report post Posted April 20, 2009 rdb's method will sure work, and I have done quite a few like that. I do mine a little different now. I did a couple tutorials last year on laying out the angled basket stamp with a template - Angled basket stamp with template and laying out the angled basket stamp without a template - Angled basket stamp no template . I prefer to lay out my center line and use the no template method to lay out the stamp angle. I use the centerline of the arrowhead as the baseline to measure my angle from. Some guys I have shown this to prefer to use the template method. RDBs or either of these will get that inital angle for you, try them and see what works best for you.
