Pinking cutters, value & history help.

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find values for some of my tools, for insurance purposes, and I was searching the net and found one of my pinking cutters.

http://www.april1930s.com/html/singer_pinker.html

This one is as mint as you get, with the original box, and extra wheels etc. Mine shows signs of use and age, and has no "extras".

Another one I found is mint, and valued at 185 usd, no extras. So I have an idea on this item.

For the history part, I did find it was about 1933 vintage. :)

BUT, I also have a much larger one, it is an american, and have no idea on the value of it.

Anyone want to throw thier 2 cents as to the value I should put on this?

Any history info?

Thank you very much!

Hi

I am not going to be any help at all on the value of your pinkers, but I do have a question that maybe you can help me on. How heavy a leather can you run through the little Singer Pinker?

Thanks

Jim

Janice,

The only one I have seen like the American had a price of $200 on it. I see the little Singers in the antique stores a fair amount. Usually priced from $75-125.

Jim, this is almost exacly like the one I used to own but mine had smaller 'pinks'. An amazing thing - but I never found a use for it!

It was originally purchased/made to cut the leather straps for baby harness for prams and suchlike.
