imw Report post Posted May 12, 2009 Hi just like to show you my first attempt at moulding a leather case. This I made for my new mobile phone. It is made frome 1mm kip. Allthough there are many areas for improvement I'am quiet pleased with my first attempt. Suggestions and comments on how to improve always welcome. , , . Ian. china Report post Posted May 12, 2009 Very hard to give an opinion as they are all out of focus china
rdb Report post Posted May 12, 2009 A good first attempt. You got to pattern design, pattern cut, mold, and handstitch...all good things. Kip is probably the wrong weight leather, though. Handstitching can bunch up such thin leather, and not look as good as all the effort put in. Although molding is easy, case strength is minimal. Maybe try a 3/4 oz next time. wildrose Report post Posted May 12, 2009 I used kip on a small money clip/wallet project and had a really hard time with it. I agree that a slightly thicker weight might be better. Aside from that, I like what you've done! (clearer pics would help, but I know how it can sometimes be hard to get those)
