Members Monticore Posted May 31, 2009 Members Report Posted May 31, 2009 i just received some 4-6oz black veg tanned shoulder from zack white which i was hoping to use for making watch straps. i haven't found decent leather for lining ithem so i just use 1 piece folded over, but i found this just a bit stiff to use and lso noticed it cracked alot when folded. is there a product i could apply to make it a bit softer and also fixing the cracking problem. i still kinda new to leather but they had mentioned that this was there last hide , if this was older stock could that explain the stiffness and cracking? cory Quote
MADMAX22 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Gotta soak it in a bit of water before you put your crease in it. Gouging the back will help also. Then throw a spot of oil or conditioner on it once you have it folded. Quote
