RANT: So tired of AB clogging!!!!!!!!

How big of a piece are you trying to spray? Go to your local paint store and get a cheap paint viscosity meter. This will check the correct viscosity of the resolene, which in turn will give you a number that you can look up in your A.B manual to obtain the proper settings for you A.B..If it is too thick, thin down with water.

Never spray anything thicker than milk through an airbrush. If it's thicker than milk, an HVLP gun or spray gun works better.

Spraying holsters and belts. I spray one at a time to finish a step in the process and get that particular holster drying before going to work on a different item.

I've considered diluting. My concern is bleed through with the dye. Especially now using Angelus instead of EcoFlo.

I've never tried that product. I need my holsters to retain form form as well as be a bit weather-resistant for daily wear. Can this do the above?

I believe some of my problems are due to the change in location and weather/humidity. I'm down south now as opposed to being way up north and that may be creating discrepancies that I'm not use to.

I'm in hot, humid Arkansas. I finish EVERYTHING with RTC as well as use it for a resist.

You won't be sorry. Call Kevin at Springfield or call Chan Geer if you need proof. It's odorless, dries really quickly, and you can almost slop it on versus carefully like so many other products.

Monica, I feel your frustration, but I've had no problems spaying resolene. I don't dilute it either. I use the cheap external mix AB from harbor freight.......at about 85-90 PSI. No clogging. Run some clean water for finishes, or straight 98% isopropyl alcohol for dyes.....at 85-90 PSI. So far, it's been a great method. If the alcohol actually damages something....well, it was six bucks.

Yes, I clean after every use. It gets taken apart, washed, rinsed and set to dry, always. Which is why it is frustrating that its acting up. I guess it wasn't thorough enough.

I use a Badger 350 which is the name brand version of the HF one it replaced just in Nov/Dec-ish...that also broke due to the same anti-Resolene behavior. Actually, it didn't just "break". I got fed up with it one night it sorta got put between the hammer and the anvil...which broke the threads for the airline...which required a new airbrush altogether

Yes yes, my anger gets the better of me now and then - which is why I work out so much. The positive outlet is such much more productive than smashing things with a hammer

<sigh> I'm looking at Resolene prices now. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet, buy a jug and start dipping.
