This is a small cell phone case from a kit a got from Hidecrafters a few years back. This is my first try at oak leaves.

I tried "suntanning" for the first time on this project. I set it out back for about 4 hours. It was about 100 degrees out that day. I added a little highlighter, then just some clear shoe polish for a finish. I really like to color this created.

How did I do?

Thanks,

Milli

I think you did pretty good. I like the color alot, very good naturel brown that looks good.

For your first try at oak leaves that is not bad at all. Mine were far flatter and less detailed when I tried them. Keep practicing and they will look better and better as you go along.

As with any project you can improve with your technique and as you get more experience you will learn what works and what doesnt. Your off to a great start just keep doing it and it should do nothing but get better.

Thanks Madmax22,

I think I like doing the oak leaves, and will try more. There's a couple areas on this pattern that got a "re-design". I've been looking at all the patterns I have, and have found serveral different kinds to try.
