Members ABC3 Posted July 25, 2009 Members Report Posted July 25, 2009 What is the best way to get Barge Cement off of an "unsealed" belt liner (natural, not dyed)? Most of it will come off after it dries with just the rubbing of your hand or an eraser but it always leaves a stain which I cannot get off. With the sealer & top coat it is very apparent. Members RWB Posted July 25, 2009 Members Report Posted July 25, 2009 Tom, Take some barge thinner and see if it pulls some of it up. And if that won't work try some oxalic acid. It come in a crystal form at the drug store. Use about a tablespoon in a quart of water and rub it over the entire product. If that won't take it out then I'm lost for anything thing else to tell you. This is all assuming that you haven't put a finish or sealer on the leather. Members ABC3 Posted July 25, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 25, 2009 Ross, the leather is totally virgin. No sealers / top coat. I' ll give the Barge thinner a try. Thanks, Quote NRA Member Certified Firearms Instructor www.agcustomgunleather.com
Members ABC3 Posted July 25, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 25, 2009 Ross, JFYI - tried the Barge thinner & NO go. I'll keep looking but thanks anyway. Quote NRA Member Certified Firearms Instructor www.agcustomgunleather.com
Members iwannabeacowboy Posted July 28, 2009 Members Report Posted July 28, 2009 Try some scrap leather, put the same stain on it and see if you can sand it off. If all else fails, stain the whole belt lining. Charlie Quote I'm never to old to learn about all the things life brings along.
