wildrose Report post Posted August 14, 2009 I had some of the Tandy pattern packs, and the most useful advice I ever got was from a biker/leatherworker who instructed me how to make one using the customer's own jeans. I made a pair of shotgun chaps for my dad that way. (ps, all by hand, I don't have a leather sewing machine) That was a while back though, and I don't have contact with that person anymore. Deb59 Report post Posted April 5, 2010 I have made a several pair of chinks, The first ones my daughter & I made using Dusty Johnson's Video, and a Tandy Pattern. (I bought the Video 2nd hand and it did not have a pattern with it.) It helped me a lot then because I did not know anything about it. This worked ok in the beginning, I then purchased some of Bob Klenda's patterns, I liked them even better. Just last week I received the DVD by Cowcamp Saddlery and it is great! I really like how detailed the measuring instructions are and why each measurement is important for a more precise fit. I can now apply this method to the different maker patterns I have depending on the style my customer is wanting, and the shape of the piece of leather I have to work with.
