DG Leather Report post Posted September 7, 2009 the rivets I use are from tandy and are not very strong, I have not yet used copper rivets ( I assumed they would be soft. Copper rivets start off soft, but they get harder and stronger as a result of the hammering that is required to set them. MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 The rapid or double cap rivets can be pretty darn strong if set properly, I have a hell of a time being consistent with them but once set correctly it takes a bear to pull them apart. The copper rivets are without a doubt about the strongest you can get for leather work. Youll probably tear thru the leather before them come undone. There are what you would call industrial rivets for metal working and such however you wouldnt be able to set them in leather very easily if at all.
