MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Well the whole reason I started leather craft about 2 yrs ago is now complete lol. Got into it wanting to do a seat for my scoot and finally started working on it a week or so ago. It could use some work but Im happy with my first results. The pan is stock, I removed the foam and put in neoprene and shaped it. The leather in the center is 7/8oz, the sides are 4/5oz and I used vinegaroon to color and finished with two coats of sno-seal and final of leather balm with atom wax. The leather wasnt the greatest as I wanted to use up some older cheaper leather that I had that wasnt really fit for doing work for customers. The main issues I had were getting the lacing correctly shaped, this was my first round braid. I thought it turned out pretty good except where the leather joined in a few sections it would double over or I would pull it to tight I think. Probably would have turned out far better if I was joining two pieces of leather of the same weight. Still I need much more practice and this was a good learning experience. It didnt line up perfectly which is kind of annoying and my wet forming could use a little work but overall pretty happy, Wanna say thanks to everyone that posted tutorials and all the seat builders here who answered my many questions. Oh and thats alot of lace lol.
LAROC Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Well done I think it looks great. Satisfying when you park up and someone asks 'where you got your seat?'
Timd Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Very cool, Corey! That's a whole bunch of lacing, and you nailed it!

MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 19, 2009 Thanks for the compliments guys. It was alot of lacing. James its a trial and error thing for me. The hardest part imho is getting the shape of the seat correct and the padding right. Ive pulled the cover off so I can work on that since I took it on a few rides. If you stock foam is good and you like the ride then it is easier. Mine was horrible so I totally got rid of it. That and read the tutorials on the top of this forum, they were great help to me in building this.
