UncleGeorge Report post Posted September 22, 2009 Anyone know of a leather supplier in the Austin, Texas area other than Tandy. Tandy is fine but ever once in a while I don't find a side that I like and sometimes they only have a few to look through in the sizes I need. San Antonio isn't too far away. King's X Report post Posted September 22, 2009 Living in your area, we have found nothing. I have bought from Stevenson-Paxton and recently tried Springfield leather for Herman Oak. If you're in a pinch, you can always call me and I would be more than willing to loan you some leather until you get your stuff in. Sorry. Maybe someone else around Texas will chime in to help you. Good luck

Good luck Thanks for replying and your offer. I have searched around and have come up with nothing. Relunctant to order as have noted a lot a differences from one hide to another. Takes me a while to pick some out myself. Am a might skeptical of someone else taking the same time to pick me out some good ones to send to me. Wife says she wouldn't mind going to San Antonio Tandys though since the german restaurant in New Braunsfels is on the way. hidepounder Report post Posted September 22, 2009 UncleGeorge, I would venture to guess that most of us have to order our leather. I happen to use Goliger Leather because I can trust them to sort and find what I'm looking for. I think many suppliers do this successfully. I recomend discussing this with someone you know and find out where they get their leather and who to talk to there about it. I would think that Siegels, Sheridan Leather Outfitters, Goliger, Springfield Leather...would all be great places to start and I know there are several others as well. Most of these suppliers have no minimums and are accustomed to helping their customers with single side orders. Several offer leather from more than one tanner, such as Herman Oak and Wickett & Craig. Once you have a good contact, buying leather becomes much easier. Just my opinion.... katsass Report post Posted September 25, 2009 Thanks for the supplier names, I may just have to give it a try. Checked out your gallery.....very nice! I have used S&D Trading Co. in Lubbock, TX for a while now, and have been quite satisfied. 806-795-6062 4010 34th St. Lubbock. I realize that Lubbock is quite a way from you but I call from CA. and get what I need. Hope this helps a little. Mike
