photo album

Recommended Posts

Here is a photo album I just finished up. Hand stitched everything and finished it with RTC and sheridian brown antique, Didn't come out quite as dark as I would have liked. Tell me what you think.....P1010906.JPGP1010908.JPG

That looks really nice, you did a good job with putting it all together and I think the color looks really good. It would probably darken a bit with some sunlight.

nicely done! Two things I would suggest( from experience)-

make sure that you put the RTC on heavy- even 2-3 coats if you want to. Really rub it around fast and let it dry. It's quick and sometimes I only wait a few minutes but give it an hour or so. Then take a sheep scrap and kind of buff it before the antique.

also, after you apply the antique take another sheep scrap and really rub the piece. It will get rid of all the paste buildup like around the edge of the back piece and the meandering design.

well done!

Your control of that serpentine meander really looks good. Nice consistent equal spacing: I'm impressed. I also like your use of the mulefoot; not too many or excessive. Just enough for good accenting. I don't know if it's the finish or the photography, but the pear shader impressions on the leaves look a little shallow. Maybe needs a heavier hit with a heavier maul, or maybe just the photo. And the backgrounding (again, maybe it's the photo) looks a little uneven. But it is one, good-lookin' piece of work.

Thanks Harvey, My shading in the leaves didn't turn out very well, so i pulled out antique so it wouldn't show up as bad. "my solution". And the Background has got some bad spots in it, I was using a 104, however i purchased a barry king bargrounder this weekend so hopefully my background work will inprove on my next piece. Thanks again

I agree with Harvey. I see that your trying to put in pearshading on your leaves. I believe if you get lined thumbprints will make all the difference in the world, lined thumbprints will pick up the antique better. Barry King Tools are the best for the money. I have 2 tool racks of his tools. I know they are a bit pricey, but you will quickly see a difference between hand made tools and the Craftool.

Good work.. Keep going your on the right track

Happy tooling

Thanks Tim, I intend to keep getting more highend tools, and replace the junk. All I need is time and money.....
