bran7347 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 I built me a stitching horse, Didn't have any plans, just looked at some google images I could find. Hopefully its not to far off. I used an old latigo strap as the pull, but it seems to have too much stretch to it. I was thinking of putting a nylon strap on it. Maybe one of you guys can help me out on ideas there. Let me know what you think. Thanks Brandon
Storm Report post Posted September 29, 2009 (edited) Hi Brandon, I like it! Looks really great! Maybe make the seat bigger. But other than that I think you did a great job. Just the ticket for hand sewing. Could never abide those things Tandy selss where you sit on the thing and the clamp rises up between your legs. Let us know if you are going to keep on doing this and are going to start selling them. Another thought wood be to put some strips od maybe 8 ounce leather on the clamps where they come in contact with the part you are sewing! MBOGO Report post Posted September 29, 2009 I saw somewhere that someone used a nylon ratchet strap for the clamps.
MADMAX22 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Excellent looking job. Looks like it will be very useful. I think alot of people replace the strap with nylon as it stretches less. Its up to you though,
Marietje Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Looks really great! I still have all the stuff ready to build me one but cannot find the time. A nylon tie strap (used on western saddles) might work very well. Very strong and no stretch.
