Cobra Steve Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Im new to sewing leather with a machine and recently purchased a 29k62 .whats the best way to finish the stitching at the begining and end . Hi alberta, there are a couple of ways, but the easiest way is to turn the material around and sew 2 or 3 stitches, then turn the material around again and sew over the stitches that you just sewed, then repeat at the end. Thanks, Steve Quote

I’m sewing back 5 or more stitches, then I close the seam with a hammer. Compressing the leather around the thread. Many layer of stitches make the seam ugly, especially with a thick thread. Members ryano Posted November 23, 2009 Members Report Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Hello, I think back stitching looks absolutely horrid in leather when the stitch is a visible top stitch. At the end of the stitch, leave enough slack to pull the top thread through to the bottom so both pieces of thread are on the same side. I then tie the thread off with a double wrap square knot. Easy search on Google under surgical knots. Edited November 23, 2009 by ryano Quote
