BWL Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I have a nice clear section of leather that was stored for a while rolled up. At one time it had been mashed and when I unrolled it wrinkles were in it every 10 to 12 inches. My question is can they be taken out. I plan to die these pieces with no tooling. leatherman1457 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Got some botox .lol. Once you have a wrinkle it will be impossible to get out. you can dampen it and lay it out flat and put brown paper over it and lay a piece of plywood on it and then some weight on it but you might still have problems with the wrinkle. Depends on how bad the wrinkle or fold was will depend on how the dye will take. It might be darker at the wrinkle if you broke the top epidermal layer or it might not take the dye very well if you compressed the wrinkle of fold. Best thing to do is sacrifice a little where the fold is and dye it to see how it will come out. Use a spray gun or air brush to get a nice even pattern. Best advice I can give ya.
