Newbie from South Floirida

Recommended Posts

Let me introduce myself. I am from West Plam beach. And looking to start a new hobby. I have toyed with leather work when I was younger. But now I am looking to get back into maybe making some holsters and other things. I look forward to be a member of this board. Anybody want to teach or knows where I can find lessons or guidance please contact me. Todd

Todd, welcome.gif

I'm not a holster maker, but I know a number of really talented ones hang out here, so please feel free to browse that forum and ask questions.

Good luck with your first projects, -Alex

Hi,

His name is actually Luis, called Lui quite often. Here is his web site address-http://dleathersupply.com/index.html

He will be a lot of help to you. In Fort Lauderdale there is a Tandy store which will be closer to you, but Luis is worth the call and drive to meet him and to have him give you lessons and help.

Good luck,

Fred

I was unable to find the Tandy store in Ft Lauderdale. The closest I found was in Orlando. Any info on that local store would be great. Thanks for the help.

Hi Todd,

Here is the info-Tandy Leather #159 - FT LAUDERDALE

Manager: Bill Johnson, III

ftlauderdale@tandyleather.com

7161 W Oakland Park Blvd

Lauderhill , FL 33313

USA

Phone: 954-572-5488

Fax: 954-572-5485

I suggest that you call for directions on finding them. I did a Google map that made it overcomplicated to find them!

Luis used to teach there, but the long drive got to him.

Good luck.

Fred

PS I am as big a newbie as you are, if not more. This is a great site.

Thanks for all the tips. I emailed Luis and found he is member of a local Leather guild. I also emailed them and the Tandy store about classes and local artisans.
