Moderator Wizcrafts Posted August 21, 2014 Moderator Report Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) I have a singer 29k70 and a user manuel. The manuel decribes my problem as "needle thread tension to strong". Can someone help explain what i can do to regulate my stitches? I have a singer 29k70 and a user manuel. I answered your question, in this topic (belonging to somebody else, from 2010), on the 10th of August. Did you not read my reply? Members akasanchez Posted August 21, 2014 Members Report Posted August 21, 2014 Everyone who replyed to my tension issue Thank you. The stitches are blanced. I have a thread stand that allowed my heavier spools to feed smoothly through the machine. The top tension, take-up lever thumb screw and the screw and lock nut have been lightly adjusted. Needles are good, no burr. My only concern about my threads is they don't pass thru the spring in the bobbin. Nevertheless the stitched are good. Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted August 21, 2014 Moderator Report Posted August 21, 2014 If necessary, loosen the bobbin spring slightly, lift the leading edge with a jewelers' screwdriver, then pull the bobbin thread under it. Tighten the spring for a smooth pull, with just a modicum of resistance. Be careful to not unscrew it so far that the tiny screw pops out. Members king666james Posted February 3, 2019 Members Report Posted February 3, 2019 Question: I have a Singer 29k71, never had problems with it until a couple of days ago. I replace the bobbin shuttle with leaf spring with a new one and also replaced the shuttle carrier with spring. Now the problem is that the shuttle gets thread from the upper thread inside the leaf spring and gets tangled. This machine never used to do that before so I uninstalled all the parts and its still doing the same thing. Please Help..... Quote

If you opened the gear box you may have reinstalled parts slightly out of sync. Try tweaking the timing of the hook, either by moving the gears, or the long rod under the arm. It is connected to an eccentric that comes down from the top. There is a hole in the base for a flat blade screwdriver to turn a big screw that moves the position of the hook. There is a locking nut on the inside of the parts that needs to be loosened first. Members king666james Posted February 11, 2019 Members Report Posted February 11, 2019 It seems to be working now, had to loosen the needle plate a bit. I guess the new shuttle carrier was a bit thicker than the original. Thanks for your help. Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted February 11, 2019 Moderator Report Posted February 11, 2019 Yeah, new parts cast in the Orient almost never have the same dimensions as the originals made in precision Singer manufacturing plants.
