skybee Report post Posted February 2, 2010 Hi everyone I'm new to the whole sewing using a machine thing (always done it by hand before) and have just purchased an old Singer 29K boot maker or patcher machine. What I'm wondering is what is the largest size thread I can use? The largest needles I have at the moment are 22/140 singer needles the problem is that the web tells me I can use an M20/V138 thread but the thread rep tells me she has clients who use M6, M8 or M12 threads and that her charts say I can use a V205 thread with that size needle???? Firstly what size thread can be used for that needle size - metric or imperial? Secondly, disregarding the size of the needle used, what is the largest thread the machine can handle? If anyone has any ideas it'll be greatly appreciated Thanks
txhandyman50 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 I don't kow if you have the instructions for your machine but maybe this will help. http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollections/Trade-Literature/Sewing-Machines/NMAHTEX/2672/imagepages/image31.htm The biggest thread I can use on my 29K58 is B69 with a 29x3 23 needle. I am going to put my machine up for sale and buy a new 3200 Artisan
