Rhome Report post Posted February 14, 2010 Hello All, I haven't posted for awhile now but I feel I should show you what I received in the mail today. Now, I make concealed holsters for a living so I love playing with leather. But this is totally out of my expertise. I have been communicating with Rhona Carantes for awhile now. I collect Filipino artwork and noticed Rhona here one day on LW. I checked out her site and liked what I saw. I love the designs she masterfully cuts into her leather clocks. But a picture is just a picture and as we all know can be doctored to look good. Well I contacted Rhona in the Philippines and we started talking about a clock I wanted to order. She made the whole process pain free due to her excellent communication skills. So I went ahead and ordered the "Sunburst Peacock" clock. That was in January well today it arrived and it is simply beautiful ! The pictures don't do it justice. It is so much more than I expected. I have seen a lot of art done to and on leather but this is totally out of the box in design and application. She makes these mater pieces from homemade leather tools and her patterns are in her mind. She designs her masterpieces as she feels inspired. So enjoy the pictures but remember the colors and artwork are better in person ! Thank You Sis, Well Done !! joet Report post Posted February 14, 2010 I really enjoy seeing things made by people from other countries. The designs and workmanship is a lot different than things made here in the U.S. and it just blows my mind to see these things.
Rhome Report post Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Yes I agree you usually don't see this type of art coming out of the U.S. When I lived in the Philippines I collected a lot of their art but Rhona's art is the best I have ever seen ! I wish I had a thimble full of her talent. I'm glad I ordered another piece. I invite you to go to : www.shanaayashanum.webs.com To view so fantastic artwork.
