Help Me Buy A Cost Effective Head Knife

Hey guys,

Can anyone help me by recomending a head knife that cost less then say $50.00 but is not a POS?

Seems like the price runs any where from $30.00 to $200.00.

This is just a hoppy of mine and I can't break the bank.

Check Ebay. I bought the Al Stolman brand from Tandy for about $35, I think, but I wouldn't recommend it. It doesn't hold an edge very well at all, I seem to spend as much time sharpening it as cutting with it.

Must be luck of the draw then. I got one several months ago and all it needs is a stropping every so often. I love mine.

Maybe so. I guess I meant stropping, not sharpening. But still, I strop it before use and then if I cut about 18" of 6/7 oz, It starts having trouble and needs to be stropped again. I use a poly cutting board, if that makes a difference. Sorry about the hijack.
