Double U Leather Report post Posted March 16, 2010 Here's a pair of mutton bustin' chaps I just finished for a 5 yr. old. The pictures don't show up real well. They're black with metallic red. The red in the pics looks just like regular ol' red. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks.
Storm Report post Posted March 16, 2010 Those look really cool! I wish I had a pair like those when I was 5 years old. This kid is going to be the talk of the rodeo. Bet you get some more orders once the other kids see them. Very nicely done!
Luke Hatley Report post Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) That is a Fine looking pair of Chaps........better than the Naughhide ones i had when i was 5.. Edited March 16, 2010 by Luke Hatley
dirtclod Report post Posted March 16, 2010 Nice job. If you make some more i would put the rivets under the cross instead of on top. You will need to hold the straps out the way and it might be tight sewing but you can do it.
Double U Leather Report post Posted March 20, 2010 Well, I just delivered these last night. If the kid likes 'em as much as his dad did, he'll be a happy lil' camper! Thanks for the comments. Dirtclod...I agree that the rivets should/could have been hidden. Usually when I make chaps, there are conchos to cover the rivets. This pair however, was on a very tight budget. I couldn't justify spending any more time on them than I had too. Anyway, good constructive criticism. And, it is something I'm aware of.
