Is theirs a clip on buckle like often seen on web belts, where the buckle clamps onto the end of the belt? If so, you might use a thin 2 oz. piece of roo or calf, and creat a loop, such as this... Kangaroo, anything as thin could work. You could possibly stitch such a piece to the end of your belt, such that the buckle would clip over the end of the belt, as well as the ends of this retainer loop, an advantage of which is that the keeper will not escape from the belt.
