Did this rig for a friend I used to work with: HO veg-tan rough-out, natural russet.

Very nice work. Great detail (press??). Must be a snug fit for the clips. Did you do belt too? If so, what weight leather and linning for the belt?

I slick, cut, glue/stitch mold by hand with a piece of white-tail antler, aluminum rod and the handle of an edger; nothing super special. The holster is 8/9 oz, the mag pouch & belt are 6/7 oz.; the billet liner is split down to 3 oz. for ease in buckling and comfort.

WOW! I really like that set a lot! Very nicely done. I may have to try something like that myself.

Great Job :cowboy:

Nick

Nice. I always get a kick out of your rough side out modern holsters. Very cool....

Good looking rough out rigs. I like rough out options for a number of reasons.

Bill,

Do you leave the gun/model in the holster until completly dry?

And, I like the way you put web site name lightly across the photo......great idea.

Regis,

I very gently remove the pistol once I'm finished with the detail boning. Gently so as not to upset the shape, then I squeeze the mouth together very slightly and the same for about 2 inches of the muzzle end. I want a tight fit once it's dry. I prefer to have a little break-in instead of a loose, so-called fast holster. Actually, I've never seen a fast holster. Mine has never gone anywhere ... lol! If the holster is super tight, spray it thoroughly with silicone spray, holster the pistol and let it dry 24 to 30 hours. That can be repeated but usually one time does the trick. Just keep in mind that all leather is not the same and if you're getting leather from economy sources and of unknown origin you may not get the same results - leather ain't just leather. Hope this makes since and helps out.

I appreciate all of your comments.

Very nice looking set! Your buddy should be proud to wear that. I have a question for you. What is the screw between the mags? I assume that it is to adjust tension. How do you install something like and what hardware do you use?

I used a t-nut, a stainless bugle head screw and stainless grommet. You can find them at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace type hardware supply. You can use them to mount removal belt loops also, so they're multi-purpose.
