countyman Report post Posted April 15, 2008 I am in search of a leather worker to make me some of the following: Leather Pipe Rest I just started a pipe collection and saw something I like. I would be interested in purchasing about 10-20 of these if the price is right. Is this something you can do? I would just want single ones, unfinished leather. Just like above, except not three together.
Beaverslayer Report post Posted April 15, 2008 countyman, welcome to our little corner of the net. Here is your chance to take up a new hooby to go with your pipe collecting. Those would be very easy to make yourself, with the purchase of just a few basic things from Tandy Leather. All you would need is a few lengths of Latigo strap, a small hole punch, a bag of rivets and a setter. This way, as your collection increases, you are able to just whip a holder together and away you go. Now if you got creative and purchased some veg tan leather, some carving tools, you could learn to do some very nice pictures or designs on them, and really make your collection POP. Just an idea mind you. There are many people here that would be very willing to help you to learn what you needed to do. Ken
Spider Report post Posted April 16, 2008 Countyman, Welcome. I am also a pipe smoker and I will be making a pipe holder in the future. Maybe sooner now. I will be happy to share whatever I come up with with you and all the others here. I have around 35-40 pipes but 5 I smoke regularly. Feel free to PM anytime. mjhayesleather Report post Posted April 30, 2008 I have made lots of these. On the single ones I make english points on the ends and us a line 24 snap in place of the rivets. This is a great way to use up scrap and try out new belt patterns. -matt
