Members bergjes Posted May 8, 2010 Members Report Posted May 8, 2010 Hi, I found this picture of a nice bracelet. Can somebody explain to me how such a piece is made? I can't figure it out how it is done. Thanks, Erik Quote
Members KnotHead Posted May 8, 2010 Members Report Posted May 8, 2010 Hi, I found this picture of a nice bracelet. Can somebody explain to me how such a piece is made? I can't figure it out how it is done. Thanks, Erik Hi Bergjes. To me it looks like an 7, or 8 strand quarter round braid with a sequence of; U1-O1-U1 / O1-U1-O1, around the back and either O2-U2, or U2-O2. The objective with that sequence is so that the band will bend around the wrist without separating the parts on the top of the band. For the core that bracelet must have a bendable plastic core of some type. The findings are most likely bought from a supplier somewhere. I don't know where though. I'd like to know myself. That is a very nice finding. Brian... Quote
Members bergjes Posted May 8, 2010 Author Members Report Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks Brian for your quick reply. I hope that I can figure out what you mean. I'm still a beginner in leather braiding. Are you familiair with the book of Bruce Grant? Is there something in there I can use as example for instructions? Thanks again, Erik Quote
Members DSJackson Posted May 8, 2010 Members Report Posted May 8, 2010 Agreed, this is pretty neat. I'd like to learn something like this too. Quote
Members lilpep Posted May 8, 2010 Members Report Posted May 8, 2010 berges in the BG's book this is called a half round braid. in the book he shows a six or eight strand braid but this one looks like its done with ten or twelve the sequence would be the same just add to the o1u1's accordingly this braid is done with an even number of strands. for the core, like Brian said just use a flat peace of leather or something flexible that will hold its shape. hope it helps.
