Louis Vuitton Natural Calf Leather, What Kind?

I'm wondering what kind of leather LV use for their strap. It's a natural color leather with certain level of stiffness. I'm sure it's not normal veg tan leather since the finishing is better (or they just use the veg tan and apply some specific oil on it?). I just think it's attractive and will age nicely. I want to have it and make some nice watch band out of it. Does any one know what kind of leather is that? and where could I source some?

It can depend on how much the hide was waxed and polished at the tannery.
