Members 8thsinner Posted June 15, 2010 Members Report Posted June 15, 2010 We have started playing with japanese braiding styles and came up with this cute little item. This is just the bracelet version, we have a necklace finished and also a dog lead that were waiting for hardware to finish. only it's done in thick 2mm. In the japanese way this is very basic but I think it works really well. Quote
Suze Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 nicely done -- I have wanted to play around with some round leather cord - but just havent got to it yet. what books are you useing? and did you know about the yahoo kumihimo group? I've gotten lots of good ideas from there. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kumi2/ Quote
Members 8thsinner Posted June 15, 2010 Author Members Report Posted June 15, 2010 I had no idea there was a yahoo group, We aren't using any books as of yet, although there are lots of patterns in ABOK for the style. I had the idea originally since I bought my first silk braided sageo. And this pattern is probably the most well known and easiest to do but like I said it was a test. Thanks for the suggestions though Quote
Suze Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 you're welcome and welcome to another addicting hobby Quote
Members Somawas Posted June 23, 2010 Members Report Posted June 23, 2010 Which ABOK number? Looks like simple 6 or 8 strand round crowning to me, but that's a guess. Quote
Members 8thsinner Posted June 24, 2010 Author Members Report Posted June 24, 2010 I don't know the abok number or if this one is even in ABOK but he has loads of complicated ones that we will try soon. This one is like crowning but it's crowning in two parts The routine is thus two strands in each quadrant and it goes top right down to bottom right bottom left to top left rotate 90 CCW repeat. It is really easy to do easy not to get lost but like all braiding it's reliant on tension and a little makes a big difference on this style. Quote
