CWR Report post Posted July 6, 2010 Here is my first major saddle project. I traded for this old saddle a few years back to ride colts in and it was in pretty bad shape. It had a rawhide cantle binding that had pulled down into the seat and a hole rubbed in the cantle leather. The swell cover was almost rubbed through where the rope sits and the jockeys were in pretty bad shape. When I got it torn down, I found the riggings were pretty raggy so I replaced them and the stirrup leathers and covevered the stirrups. I have a ways to go yet but I sure learned alot. I want to thank all of you on here who helped me when I got in a jam. Please give any critiques you see and ways I can improve. I see alot of them but hope you can point out some I missed. I can't wait to start one from scratch. CW

horsewreck Report post Posted August 5, 2010 C.W. I think you did a great job on your rebuild. Good luck on the Will James. I'm sure you will make something your son will be proud of for years to come, even when he gets to big to sit in it..... Jeff

BondoBobCustomSaddles Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Nice job in redoing that saddle. When you start working on saddles it is kind of addictive isn't it? Any way, glad to see you are taking the next step, and I am sure you will find it rewarding, especially when you see your work being used and appreciated. Welcome to the club ! CWR Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Bob, Thanks I couldn't have done it without you all here helping me out when I get in over my head. This is a long term goal that I hope to be an income producer in the future. It is addictive though. JW, I ride one too. I like taco hats and big swells and he will too as long as I'm paying the bills.LOL. Thanks again, CW
