Members ShortBBL Posted July 10, 2010 Members Report Posted July 10, 2010 Ok... yeah I am getting old(er) and really need reading glasses (bifocals, can we say that here?) but haven't bit that bullet yet. I'm curious, do those who stamp and/or carve leather, use one of those table mounted lighted magifyers? I knew a guy who used one for checkering gun stocks, but sadly he is gone now or I'd go check his out. If you use one, how do you like it? Thanks! Quote
Contributing Member ClayB Posted July 10, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted July 10, 2010 I've looked at those things a time or two but decided against it. Seems like it would be a pain to have that between my eyes and my hands while trying to carve. I do you a head mounted light magnifier combo from QED and I really like that. I also started wearing glasses with progressive lenses and it's amazing what I was missing before. If you need 'em, I guess you need 'em! Quote

I do..... when I was taking a little learners class from Tandy, I had to keep taking the glasses off to see..... that never was the case in the past. I need glasses to see long distance, but now, I need em to read too. Ugh! Oh well.... time to bit the bullet and get progrssives I guess. Thanks! Quote
Members Tina Posted July 10, 2010 Members Report Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) I have a pair of magnifying glasses I wear (See pictures below) and I think it's the best thing since slized bread :-) (I think some makers have them with a light too ?) I have tried the lamp too at my daughters but I think it's to big and just in your way plus...Of course you have to move it all the time so that it has the right distance to where on your work you're looking at. This little head gadjet have for sure made the carving sooooo much easier Edited July 10, 2010 by Tina Quote
