Ambassador pete Posted September 3, 2010 Ambassador Report Posted September 3, 2010 Iv been looking for a good hide to make a pair of chink but i dont know what to use or where to get it??? any help would be great depends on what you are using them for. Hard work or light riding in light brush etc. I like 3/4 or so. Heavier or use mule hide for farrier work, tall mesquite, etc. Where are you riding? Springfield leather, Zack White, etc...all are good for leather. pete Quote
Members philip7 Posted September 3, 2010 Author Members Report Posted September 3, 2010 i need them to with stand a rasp run across the at times Quote
dirtclod Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 If your wanting to make farriers chaps / apron i always used apron splits / mule hide and sew a big patch on them where you think the rasp will hit. They will last a pretty good while depending on many times the rasp goes across the patch. When you get a hole in the patch you can patch it or put a new one on. Quote
