Glue For Pigskin Lining With Veg-Tanned Outside

hi everyone!

hope i can get some infos here if anyone has tried the elmer's glue spray adhesive? it says at the back that it can be used with leather. not sure if they meant for temporary gluing only or permanent. i want to know has anyone tried it for veg-tanned flesh side glued with pigskin liner? i tried the regular elmer's glue with the nozzle squeezed. it cant hold and breaks away with the flesh side. hope to get more suggestions.i tried looking for the recommended 3M but its not carried by our handyman hardware here. i also stumbled upon Evo ? not sure if this is the brand ? it says permanent on the label. thanks!

Elmers would not be my first choise, most saddle makers will use a white glue simular to elmers to glue on the swell cover as it works good with wet leather and does not set up quick and allows time to work with the swell cover before the glue sets up. You can try it with pig linning and it may work. But I would suggest contact cement, you can get it at any hardware or home center. Get the Wellwood brand orginal, I have used it before when I have ran out of my Duall 88 cement and it is a very good replacement. Apply to both pieces of leather and let the cement dry to a tacky state and but together, It is not very forgiving so make sure everything is lined up good before you slap them together. Also another product that I use is called Fabric Tach that I buy at Wally world in the craft dept. It is a clear glue that drys in less than a minute. I will use it on zippers, cases and anything I want to hold together so I can sew it on the machine. It can also be used to glue in pig linning. Hope this helps.

Don't know about the 3M spray but do know the DAP Weldwood NonFlammable Contact Cement (green and black can) is an excellent glue for more porouos leathers like pig skin and buckskin, whether gluing to themselves or to veg/bark tan hide. It's available at most hardware or paint stores and for applying I use the throw away foam brushes. Be sure and shake well.

Randy and Chuck thank you so much for the suggestion. i will look around tomorrow and check out these products if our local hardwares carry them.
