I use a whetstone but i guess you use a file or sand paper and then strop it. Check on you tube for movies their might be some on there.

Here is a video by Osborne. They start off sharpening a skiver blade ( i think that is what it is) and half way through they review punches.

You would probably also get a good finish working up the grits using a mouse mat and sandpaper, due to the convex nature of the tip.

i cant remember the name right now, but there is a stohlman book that covers the topic of how to sharpen and maintain all of the tools associated with leather work... sorry i couldnt be of more help..

KC, great video. Thanks for sharing. I especially enjoyed the 1950's-style narration. That guy's got a great voice. :cowboy:
