Members PensacolaJim Posted September 26, 2010 Members Report Posted September 26, 2010 I want to cut circles with a 45 degree bevel. Do you have any solutions of how to do this? I was wondering if there was a tool guide to do this. Thank you Jim Quote

hidepounder Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 You could use a circle cutter to cut the leather out and then you could bevel the edges. For a perfect 45 degree bevel you would probably have to build a jig that holds a razor blade. You might be surprised also at how accurately you can cut a bevel with a good French Skiver if it's sharp. Hope this helps..... Bobby Quote
mendedbowl Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 i can't help but wonder...are you cutting out circle holes in a project? or are you cutting out circle pieces like coasters? ken Quote
Members PensacolaJim Posted September 27, 2010 Author Members Report Posted September 27, 2010 I was planning on making a couple of koozies. Quote
hidepounder Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 So you're looking to have the bottom of the Koozie have a 45 degree bevel and the bottom of the sides that meet the bottom have a 45 degree bevel also so that you can sew them together. A French Skiver is definitely the tool I would use! Bobby Quote
Members PensacolaJim Posted September 27, 2010 Author Members Report Posted September 27, 2010 Thanks for the advice. I'll make a jig and give it a shot! Jim Quote
