Guest Nathan Report post Posted September 26, 2010 Hello everyone, I've been searching for the past few days to find someone who can do the Leather for my Backgammon Board, with an Inlaid Leather Playing Field. It's a full size board, checkers are 44mm. It is to be a "briefcase" or "attache" backgammon case, without any visible stitches, like the board in this link: http://www.mastersgames.com/images/bgammon/dng-black-leather-inner.jpg I can build the board myself if you prefer, but I'm not exactly sure how it should be constructed to achieve the "inlaid leather playing field". I assume the rest of the board should be left in pieces, wrapped in leather, and them assembled like a big puzzle -in which case I'm not sure what kind of allowances I should make for thickness. If this is a project you may be interested in, please let me know. Thanks for your time, Nathan
CitizenKate Report post Posted September 26, 2010 Hi Nathan, Game boards are my specialty, and I am familiar with that type of leather inlay work. It so happens that I am working on a design for a Backgammon board/case very similar to the one pictured. If you prefer to make it yourself, I'm willing to sell you a copy of the design with instructions for making it. I could probably even put together a kit with all the parts you need. I could make it for you, but there would be a pretty long wait, since I'm pretty swamped at the moment with other committments. If you're interested, send me a PM with your email address and we can go from there. (Not sure if guests can send PM's, but I hate to ask you to publish your contact information in a public forum...) Guest Nathan Report post Posted September 27, 2010 I tried signing up so I could send a PM, but that was the most difficult sign up page I've ever encountered. First I got the security code wrong because it was near impossible to read. Even though I didn't complete the sign up, my username was suddenly taken. Next, I got the code right but couldn't use my email because I tried it already on my first attempt. So then both my names were taken and I couldn't use my email, LOL. Anyway, thanks for the reply Kate. What's funny is that after clicking to your website, I realized I already wrote you an email earlier today with my inquiry, because someone had recommended you to be a great board maker. Your site is a little out of date, I didn't think you were around anymore. So it's nice to see you on this forum! My email is nathanaron@hotmail.com Thanks, Nathan
CitizenKate Report post Posted September 27, 2010 Uhhh... was there something you wanted to discuss with me? :poofan: I do have an old site that is in severe need of updating, but lately have gotten as many orders as I can handle from locals and have not have time to update it. As for your difficulties with registering on this site, I apologize. We have moderator approved membership here, to help keep spammers away. If you made repeated attempts to join before receiving the confirmation email, that may have fouled up the process a bit. I will see what can be done to resolve that, and contact you by email in the mean time. Kate
