These were a fun project - the gentleman came to me with a detailed drawing which I was able to copy onto the leather just as it was.

I did some minor embossing to lift the center pieces a bit.

Very nice and vivid Leerworker. The symbols, what are the meanings of them?

Very interesting pieces but did you not mean Vietnam and not WWII? That is the former flag of South Vietnam.

Yes, you are right! Late nite postings is not always that accurate. He is a Vietnam Vet!

Help me with the symbols: I know the one silver bar in the middle is the rank insignia of a lieutenant ...? The other is a little dilver bar with purple ends ..

Very nice work:

The background colors (red , yellow and green) are representation of the Vietnam Service Ribbon which is meant to duplicate the South Vietnam Flag which is identical in pattern/color but lacks the green bars on each end. The center emblem on the left is the Purple Heart Ribbon while the example to the right is a Captain's insignia of rank. Can't help with the "circle emblem' but I wager it is part of a particular unit's insignia.

The gentleman I made it for is a Native American Indian and I have seen that circle with the white and black sections in some of the shields they use here in Minnesota.... It must have something to do with that, I assume ...

I think what we have here is a Purple Heart (Wounded In Battle) The bars are those of a Captain. The circles around each. Well I am thinking that is looks very similar to a Sioux symbol that some used to wear around their necks like a medallion.

Hope that this is a bit more enlightening.
