cmh3821 Report post Posted November 4, 2010 while building out the "leather corner" in my shop i came into the need for a large cutting surface for using my punches, slots, etc. i decided to make my whole "make/fitting" station bench top out of cutting board surface, with an underlayment of 3/4" birch ply for rigidity and stability. i felt the full cutting board surface would be great as it would make the whole bench top safe for cutting tools/punches. I asked a buddy of mine who's in restaurant equipment where to get big old sheets for the bench top cutting board material. he sent me to www.usplastic.com and i saved more than 25% over what i could have gotten the big HDPE sheets from the restaurant equipment wholesaler i get other stuff from. if you need large cutting boards for your punching/cutting tools check them out. Big Papa Leather Report post Posted November 5, 2010 I go mine from Interstate Plastics. They are kind of local to me so I had no shipping, but they were reasonably priced and cut to order. I got thier textured cutting board plastic and it's the bee's knees. Doubt I can every cut enough to need another. Click me Good luck on your search. Allen PS No fiscal connection to Interstate plastics. Just liked my experience.
Go2Tex Report post Posted March 6, 2012 I use the hard rubber poundo stuff at my hole punching station. It doubles as my dye station. The cutting board stuff would work as a hole punching surface except that it gets really rough with a lot of such use and it will tear up your leather.
