Vaquero1 Report post Posted November 18, 2010 i have a problem to cover the whole heel knot on bosal. i´m a beginner in braiding and know how to do a 2,3 or 4 pass pineapple. my problem is making a 3 pass, the middle of the knot is not covered and it is to tight on top so i can´t do it 4 pass. now i got the information, there is no need to go to the top or to begin on bottom. if i start my 4 pass and wanna turn to bottom after i passed the middle... what is the splitting pattern? hope it´s understandable- sorry for my english... the pattern for a 3 pass from bottom to top is: first pass 2 at top and under 6 at bottom. There after under 3 at top and under 5 at bottom... and a 4 pass is: first pass 2 at top and under 6 at bottom. There after under 3 at top and under 7 at bottom my heel knot is a 8 bight and i wanna change direction after over 4, under 4, over 4...
KnotHead Report post Posted November 18, 2010 You should go back to the base turks head you started with. You need to increase your passes on the base turks head, or casa knot by about 2 more turns. Then go from there and see what you end up with. Braid a little looser than you are so you have room to put in the passes in the final runs for the heel knot. Brian... Vaquero1 Report post Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks Brian!!! should i do a 10 bight instead of an 8 bight to cover the knot with a 3 pass? but i still wanna know the pattern of a 3 or 4 pass when i turn in the middle ;-) do anybody have a tipp for me to make the 10 bight better hold on top? a 6 bight has a good contact to the edge of the rounded heel but my 10 bight does not... Aggiebraider Report post Posted November 19, 2010 Have you tried just adding more interweaves to the middle of the knot? I would try there first if you are getting the 6 bight to hold well at the top
entiendo Report post Posted November 19, 2010 I would add more interweaves. Then you won't have any trouble where it's already tight.

I think that the 8 bights would be enough. But if you want to try out the 10 bight it wont hurt. It'll just be time consuming is all. The pattern will remain the same. You passes at the top inside the interweave will be going toward the center of the knot and the bottom will be going toward the outside of the interweaves bight structure. 3 passes will = Over 3, Under 3; 4 passes will = Over 4, Under 4. All you have to do is watch for the paired up tracks and split those tracks as you go. Brian...
