Members Happy Hooligan Posted December 16, 2010 Members Report Posted December 16, 2010 I think I'm going to replace my old singer with this one or at least add to it. He's asking $85 for the whole set up. It sounds pretty good to me. Which model is this one? anything I should look for? Quote
CowboyBob Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 This is a 111w that has a walking foot will sew just under 3/8" use 46,69,92,138 thread.Parts are still available as are feet. At $85.00 it's a bargain, esp if it sews. BHTH, Bob Quote
Members steveh Posted December 16, 2010 Members Report Posted December 16, 2010 looks like a singer 111w 155 walking foot uses a 135x16 needle, there should be a brass tag w/ the number on the front of the machine. Quote

Members Happy Hooligan Posted December 17, 2010 Author Members Report Posted December 17, 2010 Just picked it up tonight. It will need a new timing belt. Even came with a bunch of bobbins and other stuff. It was at one time repainted gray... was black. I think they took the model plate off so I don't know which one it is. Now to oil it up and order some parts.... Quote
CowboyBob Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 On the top shaft your going to have to pull off the belt pulley then the bearing, does this bearing have screws in a collar that have to be loosened to get it off?If so it's a 111w155. We also pretty much have every part in stock for this machine. Quote

I know the timing belt needs replaced for sure. thanks for the heads up on all parts needed... I'm sure I'm going to be needing a few parts to get it sewing again. Quote

Cleaned it up a little today and oiled it up. It now turns very smooth. some better shots of it... is this the screws you were talking about? this is the motor that came with it... is this a good one or will it run too fast? Quote

This is a 111w115? It looks just like my 111w103...? Also, it seems to be the consensus here that the 111's spin too fast. I'm going to use mine exclusively for leather/vinyl/fabric upholstery~ no gun scabbards or saddle repair for this retired cowboy! Will speed still be an issue? How important is it to have reverse?
