Here is one of the finished seats with the new scroll pattern....I got interrupted on this with another custom job...so better late than never here is the finished product. I've added a few new colors to my fade so let me know what you think of it.

Very nice and sweet job! The fade looks alot richer now, I think.

Just love those scrolls, good job with carving. Doesn't take much to ruin those fine lines.

Dave, that's a beuatiful looking seat. The carved scrolling and name, all set it off real nice. The new fade colors are spectacular, makes it POP, very well done.

Thank you. Every time I look at the work on this site I learn. I like the way you added the depth to the main lettering. Is that a background tool? I'm going to try that. My tool selection is kinda slim but I'm working on it.

Hi tom,

Thanks for looking at my seat. Yes I used a Craftool backgrounder A-888-2.

Glad you liked it. And I agree this is a great site.

We know, You are one of the best, beautiful work.

I would like to ask how do you do the fade?

Use air brush?

Well this is surely a surprise to see this turn up in discussion after nearly two years! Thanks for the kind words.

They dye is applied with a very old Paasche VL double action airbrush. The dye is alcohol based Fiebings that has not been thinned/reduced.

Hi David,

Your work is truly exceptional and I consider it to be the standard that I would one day like to achieve. I have a couple of tech questions. How long do you wait to buff after airbrushing your dye and how do you apply your "sealer"? Is that airbrushed or applied with a cloth, rag, etc. If you don't airbrush your top coat, how do you keep the effects of your airbrush pattern intact without it crocking?

Thank you for the inspiration and instruction

Chris
