Members Konrad Posted February 8, 2011 Members Report Posted February 8, 2011 Dear Forum Members, Recently I bought a natural leather bag, after some usage the leather have started shifting color to a darker hue by the exposure of light, air, humidity, etc. I wonder if there is any treatment for leather of this bright and natural type to preserve? Would it be also possible to mask areas for this treatment, in means of for example you have a piece of natural bright leather, which you mask preferred areas, and treat them. Which means later during the use, the areas which were not treated will shift color and the other treated part not, forming a pattern by the time of use. Could also this treatment remain the natural color of the leather? I attach two pictures of illustrations of what I mean. Sincerely to you all Konrad the concept.pdf Quote
Tree Reaper Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Konrad; You can buy leather protection, I haven't used it so you might want to try it on some scrap leather first but it's made for leather. One of the suppliers on here may have something as well if you contact them directly. http://www.leathermagic.com/Pages/UVgrd.htm Quote

mendedbowl Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Hi Konrad, I can see where that would be a very novel effect to produce. Like on some personal item that is given as a gift, with a secret message that only appears with age. Maybe a bracelet with the hidden message "Our Love Grows Stronger" which isn't seen at first, but gradually appears and gets more defined each day. ken Quote
reddevil76 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I have found that areas applied with Satin/Super Sheene will not age. Quote
