Help! Need Parts

Recommended Posts

Howdy,

I am in desperate need of a part for my sewing machine, I am in the middle of 11 pair of chaps and I have broke the take up spring somehow, so I am kinda screwed right now.

My machine is a Nakajima DDN-738, I need a new take up spring part # 2014.

here is a scan of the part.

If anyone can help me please PM me, email me, flynsaddle at shaw.ca or phone me, 403-615-4616.

Thanks much

Since you're in Canada why don't you contact Raphael Sewing/Techsew, in Montreal? There are also several industrial sewing machine dealers in Toronto. They can cross-reference your Naka to a Juki or Seiko part number and get you sewing in a few days, via C.P.

If they can't find a matching part (unlikely they can't), Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines may be able to match that spring.

Make one. Find a tension spring the right diameter , cut it to the right number of coils, and bend the ends. You can also check with a local industrial supplier for a torsion spring that will work, Some have extra long legs so that can be modified for a particular function.

Steve,

Juki bought Nakajima some years ago and keep a lot of the machines, sometimes keeping the same model number, sometimes changing it. Bob Kovar should know if they kept this machine and that should help you with the part.
