Members ktoddmc Posted March 27, 2011 Members Report Posted March 27, 2011 I am looking for a product that will give my Latigo leather a semi-gloss look to it. I don't want high gloss. I sell leashes and collars to mom and pop pet stores, kennels and groomers. The Latigo has the dull (flat) finish and I just wanted it to look nice on the racks. Of course, I dont want anything that will damage the leather or peel off and turn white. I tried atom balm and Super Sheen by Tandy and easn't real happy with the results. ANY help or advice would be appreciated. Quote
Frank Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Have you tried just buffing the latigo with a piece of denim? Latigo is finished as is. Most finished, dyes, etc. will come off latigo since it has waxes and oils already in it. Frank Quote Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

I have a tag made up explaining the leather qualities, but it is going to be hanging on racks next to cheaper dyed and polished leathers. Quote
Members azrider Posted March 28, 2011 Members Report Posted March 28, 2011 I bought a side of glazed latigo last week. It has a shine already in the leather. I have made several belts out of it already, and used a light coat of Bee Natural leather conditioner to even out the finish. It seems to be holding up well, and looks more finished than other latigo I have used. Quote Drygulch Leatherworks- Baldwin City, Kansas www.drygulchleather.com

Members azrider Posted March 29, 2011 Members Report Posted March 29, 2011 I purchased it from American Leatherworks in Leavenworth, KS. Thier website is http://www.americanleatherworks.com/. I didn't know what exactly I was buying, I just thought it was a nice looking hide. They are pretty good about responding to emails. MADMAX22 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I got some of the harness leather from wickett and craig that was on special. It has a really nice mellow sheen to it as is. Seems like really good leather as well. Ive been enjoying working with it so far. Just an idea. Quote
