John D Dennehy Report post Posted April 1, 2011 Vintage Stitching pony from the Dan-D Knife and leather shop in Del Norte, Colorado. I remember him using this when I was a kid and it's the one I learned to stitch on. We don't have room or the need for another one. I also don't have the time to rufurbish it. terrymac Report post Posted April 1, 2011 Jphn, Do you know anything about the history of the stitching pony. I swear I have got its twin a friend of mine gave me. They look identical down to the metal teetch. Mine has no covering on the seat, and you can see where is was scooped out with ??? My friend guessed it was over a 100 years old. John D Dennehy Report post Posted April 1, 2011 Hi Terry, I am going to take a closer look at this one this weekend. I want to see if there are any markings under it. I did notice that the jaws will come off easily. There are a couple of wedges under the seat holding the jaws in place. I would really like to find out more about it. What I meant by refurbish was to take it apart, clean, sand and refinish it. Maybe replace the leather strap at the same time.
