My First Full Rig

I consider this to be my 'Masterpiece', as I had my first lesson at our local guild (BlueGrass Leather Guild) about 1 year ago..

This Rig is made for an Umberti .45 single action w/ 6" barrel and a knife that has a 10" blade and a heavy ceramic handle; I used 8-10oz. W&C leather.

My Customer was very involved in the design, he had some very specific wants. So we perused "Packing Iron" and developed a plan incorporating many of the design elements found on different rigs

First and foremost, he wanted the color to match the colors of the pistol grips,

He wanted everything to have basket weave,

and he wanted a design on each of the 42 cartridge loops.and a "Hellacious Drop"

.

There were many other specified wants and

I managed to fulfill the aspects that were practical , and turned out a good looking (IMHO) rig.

My Customer was VERY happy with it

Nice rig! Man, that's a whole lot of basket weave. Hope I have the patience for it when I , finally, feel skilled enough to tackle something like this for my 1851 Navy.

That is just too dang purdy for words! I love the basket stamping, probably even more than a few months ago because now I know how dang hard it is too do. I hope my old eyes and hands hold out long enough to master the basket stamp.

Looks awsome, did one myself so I know how much work you put into it. The color is terrific, I love the old rustic look, and you stiched the cartridge loops too, I chose to weave mine. If I can make an observation for future thought, the ends of the cartridge loops have a row of stitching and then the ends are cut? Why not taper them to match say the stitched ends of the billets and sew them down, may give them a little more finished look but that is just my opnion. You did a terrific job on the entire thing.

Can I ask did you line the holsters and/or the belt? and are the Uberti's .45Colt or .45Schofield?

looks good. for your next one try to angle the basket weave design instead of straight.

on holsters i try to find the center of the tooling area then draw a line at whatever angle i want left to right not up to down. then do my basket weave design on that line.
