Members manji Posted May 6, 2011 Members Report Posted May 6, 2011 How long should I let Oil Dye dry for, before buffing and coating with Clear-lac? Quote My link
bison Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Depends on how much oil you've applied. I usually apply an even thin coat, let it dry for a few hours, oil again if necessary and then let it dry at least 24 hours before doing anything else with it. Other folks have different routines, but that works on most of what I do. Dave Quote
Members Spinner Posted May 7, 2011 Members Report Posted May 7, 2011 Same here...24 hours to dry after the final coat of dye is applied. when applying one color over another I allow for 24 hours in between as well. Color and finishes come out truer and deeper in my opinion. Quote Chris Three Mutts Customs Leather - http://www.threemuttscustoms.com
Members marine mp Posted May 7, 2011 Members Report Posted May 7, 2011 manji, Same same as above. Minimum of 24 hours and then if you apply finish with dauber, rag, wool etc. and you see dye residue on the applicator, you may want to let it set longer before continueing. If you spray the finish, 24 hrs should be plenty of time. Semper-fi MIke Quote "The first one thru the door...gets the copper-coated candy".
