Members Shooter McGavin Posted May 20, 2011 Members Report Posted May 20, 2011 I'm helping the wife build a pancake holster for her new Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II She is unsure if she wants to paint the flower or antique it. I'm unsure what color I should dye the trim panel for either option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Members marine mp Posted May 20, 2011 Members Report Posted May 20, 2011 SMG, I don't know how others feel, but I wouldn't touch a thing, 'ceptin maybe EVOO it. amn, thats nice. Nice smokepole too. Would like to own one, but not in the cards at the moment. Semper-fi Mike Quote
Members Shooter McGavin Posted May 20, 2011 Author Members Report Posted May 20, 2011 Thanks Mike. Personally, I'm no fan of Kimbers, but she's a big girl and doesnt have to like the same things I like. At any rate, the gun followed me home from the last gun show I attended. I overpaid, but heck, it made her happy, so it was worth every penny. And then I seen those grips last week. Desert Ironwood, which I think is code for "expensive" thanks for the compliment! Quote
Members Shooter McGavin Posted May 23, 2011 Author Members Report Posted May 23, 2011 Well Mike we took your advice. Some EVOO and a couple days of sunshine. She may still color wash the flower though, she's not sure yet. Thanks! Quote
Members Shooter McGavin Posted May 23, 2011 Author Members Report Posted May 23, 2011 Didnt want to start an new post for it, but heres a belt I finished up today as well. It's the water buffalo from waterhouse leather. the keeper is shark skin from springfield, the buckle is theirs as well. I do like the grain of the water buffalo. It's a touch on the stretchy side though, even with the stitching. Not near sturdy enough to carry a holstered firearm on, but makes a good dress belt. Quote
KAYAK45 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Well shooter you did start a new post, this is about your wifes holster! Come on man, Stay on topic. LOL. If anything go with the brown or red in the great grips. Nothing too strong. Looks kinda neat the way it is. Quote
Members marine mp Posted May 23, 2011 Members Report Posted May 23, 2011 SMG, The EVOO make the holster look professional built. My 2 non-cents. and that just it, my own opinion, is that anything over 2 colors (you have them..black and natural) tends to get to busy. It then looks like something that was in a coloring book contest. Although, it is yours, it will be a concealed holster, and you can do anything you wish!!!!!! The holster looks perfect as it stands. That my story and arm-stickin'-to-it!!!!! Semper-fi MIke Quote
Members Sanch Posted May 23, 2011 Members Report Posted May 23, 2011 Both holster and belt look awesome. For the holster my preference would be black antique with either tan or light brown dye faded from a black edge JMHO. stealf ... Quote
