Members Leerwerker Posted June 1, 2011 Members Report Posted June 1, 2011 I have been inspired by Jim Linnell to do more decoration just with swivel knife cuts. Now I am experimenting with taking it a step further and using the same style of cuts, I add a bit of subtle beveling. To illustrate, here are two can wraps that I am working on. One is just pure cuts and the second have some of the cuts beveled. Here is closer detail to show how I faded out the beveling: Lastly I added a few more cuts just to fill things out a bit. I have an entry on my blog too: LeatherByJohan Quote JOhan ------------------------------------------- ****Afrikaans: Leerwerker ***** ****Zulu: lesikhumba isisebenzi Latvian: ādas darba ņēmējs *****Russian: кожа работника ****English: Leatherworker ****Dutch: Lederbewerker ****Flemish: Leerbewerker ****Hebrew: עור פועל ****German: Leder Handwerker ****Hungarian: Bőrdíszműves ****Turkish: deri işçisi ****French: Artisan du Cuir ****Spanish: Artesano de Cuero ****Norwegian: Skinn kunstners ****Swedish: Läderhantverkare ****Greek: δερμάτινα εργαζόμενος Sotho: mosebeletsi oa letlalo
Contributing Member Ferg Posted June 1, 2011 Contributing Member Report Posted June 1, 2011 I personally think variations of an Art Form is what keeps the Form interesting. I am neither for or against the beveling, I do like your design without the beveling. I have tried subtle backgrounding inside some "leafy" knife designs, they add interest also. Maybe you have gone a little beyond subtlety plus your beveling needs some work. Your last effort with additional cuts adds another dimension, I like it. Just my opinion. ferg I have been inspired by Jim Linnell to do more decoration just with swivel knife cuts.
