Swivel Knife Blade ?

Recommended Posts

I have all of my fathers tools plus a few new ones I purchased. The craftool swivel knife I have is about 40 years old. Can I buy any blade and will it fit in it.

Yes. Unless you get a SK-3 blade.

Did the knife come with a blade? One of my favorite blades is a craftool from the 50s. I spent some time getting it good and sharp, and then polished and stroped it. It works better than the ones I bought new at Tandy.

Wrong, there are other blades that will not fit in it either. For instance, blades that fit a Ray Hackbarth knife will not fit, nor will the blades that went in the Divelbiss knife. I am sure there are others.

Diane - What you need to do, is measure the hole, or the shaft of the blade, and then go shopping with that information in hand. If you decide to go with one of the custom blade makers, you will need that information. If you buy from Tandy or one of the the mainline sellers then the blade should fit any Craftool swivel knife if you are sure that is what it is. My blade sizes as measured with digital micrometer:

Blade Shaft size

Craftool .215"

Divelbiss .248"

Hackbarth .313

If you want to try a decent blade and for a good price.......Barry King Tools is now making a blade for a Craftool swivel knife. Give them a holler.

Happy carving!
