ok after this one im gonna get serious. This is my first pancake holster that didnt turn out to be a total piece of crap. I still have a long way to go I know. My edges are still bad but I just ordered a beveler and some bees wax and some horse butts. So hopefully this will be my last bad one, lol.

Good afternoon Wareagle, You know where your weak points are, and are taking measures to rectify and improve on them. But, I might suggest one thing. Bring the wings in as close as possible to the gun. The wings are only on the rest of the holster to provide a place for the belt slots. The wings do not provide anything else. The width of them just uses up leather, and the strength is only that little piece of stuff from the edge of the slot to the closest outer edge of the wing. Also, the wider the wing, the more tendency there is for the gun to want to 'lean out'. The closer the slots are to the gun, and the more leather there is between the slot and the edge of the wing will provide for a holster that retains a close, tight fit to the wearer much longer. JMHO from the grumpy old man. Now, please don't think I'm putting your work down, you are on your way, you're learning, just keep it up. Mike

Mike,

Thank you sir, for your honest evaluation. Your leather work is top notch. The wing thing didnt turn out like I planned. For some reason I thought the wider wimgs would make it more stable. But the opposite seems to be the case. Im kinda bad about just doing things without testing and thinking them through. Im gonna stick to basic guidelnes on my next one so mabye ill finally have something im accually proud to share on here.

Well, you have nothing NOT to be proud of. The holster is a good design, and it's obviously functional. A little tweaking here and there is all it will take. As you get better at things, keep that puppy around as a reminder of how we all start. Yours, I would say, is starting off better than many others. Mike

Wareagle,

I am really interested in the pistol you made your holster for. I love revolvers and making holsters for them. Her's one I recently made. Thought I would post it to give you some design ideas. It is for a S/W model 60-3inch.

Best of luck,

Jeff

haystacker,

that was my great grand daddys 32 S&W hand ejector. i really love old revolvers too, but dont shoot it much cause its really small and uncomfortable in my hand. i just ran across a 4" model 13-3 357 for a steal and want it bad but.... i dont think my marrage can take another gun purchase. however if i can find a deal on a model 25-7 in 45 long colt i guess we'll see how much she loves me

i love that holster you made. i shoulda looked around a little more for a better design instead of tryin to "free hand" it. i can always make another one and probably will.
